Introducing Kimberly + Brendon
Brendon and Kimberly’s wedding took place just outside of Richmond, Virginia in a community called Manquin. They chose a clean and sophisticated aesthetic. They chose black, white, and organic greens as their color palette and, I must say, it fit the venue and vibe so well. Throughout the day, just by looking at their photos, you can tell that Brendon and Kimblery placed a huge emphasis on the people they loved the most. Their family and friends
How The Day Unfolded
Their wedding took place on a clear day in August. Preparations began in their own private suites. Hollyfield Manor offers plenty of room not just for the girls, but for the guys as well! What I like more about the bridal suite is the fact that it has two connecting rooms: one for hair and makeup (which often times gets messy) and the other for stepping into the dress (which almost always stays clean and ready for photos). From presenting thoughtful gifts to their wedding party, to the first look with dad, and the first touch between the two of them, this wedding had us all in our feels! My favorite moment was when the bridesmaids presented Kimberly with a handmade album featuring hand written letters from of them along with photos that brought back memories. I know that gift is something Kimberly will cherish alway.
The bride and groom opted to have their ceremony in front of the main house rather than in overlooking the lake. Either location is perfect but the front of the house fit their aesthetic and color palette so well and made all of their photos very seamless.
The Venue
Hollyfield Manor is a great venue for couples looking for a location outside of Richmond but not too deep in more rural areas. The Charleston, South Carolina feel is ideal for couples looking for a souther charm feel to their wedding. Some favorite backdrops our couples prefer are the covered porch (perfect for when it rains), the pier (a must have during sunset and the fall), as well as the long tree lined driveway.
When planning your wedding here, it is important to consider where you will have your ceremony and where the sun will be during that time. The arbor is a great location but we sometimes deal will harsh and uneven lighting due to the direction of the sun and the time of day your ceremony takes place. Avoiding sun shining directly on to your faces will ensure the best photos possible.
FAQ
- What is the best season for Hollyfield Manor?
- Winter, spring, summer and fall! We have photographed here at all times of the year and every wedding is stunning!
- What time should my ceremony take place if I want outdoor photos?
- Assuming your ceremony last about 30 minutes, I suggest your ceremony begins 2 hours before the sun sets. this will leave room for family portraits, wedding party photos, and newlywed photos without feeling rushed for light. If you plan on having a first look and all your other photos taken beforehand, your ceremony can start a little bit later while still saving time for some sunset photos with your love!
- Are there any indoor/outdoor considerations?
- Yes! Hollyfield Manor offers a beautiful, naturally lit reception space in the event your ceremony has to be moved inside. I honestly believe this venue has one of the best rain plans! Also, as mentioned earlier, be mindful of your ceremony location and sunset time to avoid harsh lighting hitting your faces as you exchange vows!
