Richmond Virginia Engagement Session Michael and Jasmine Photography

We are back on the blog with another amazing Richmond Virginia Engagement Session.  This time, we are featuring Maryanne and Tommy!  Richmond Virginia is such a fitting location for them since their wedding with take place here as well!  For the first part of their session, Maryanne and Tommy loved the idea of the Virginia State Capitol Building.  The gray stone and massive stairs is always a beautiful backdrop.  However,  I arrived a few minutes early and discovered that the Capitol grounds were fenced off!  As I walked back down the street brainstorm a plan b, I found the State Office building.  This small nook has a similar neutral stone exterior and their were gorgeous pink hydrangeas in bloom that added an extra pop of color.  As you can tell from the photographs, The State Office building was a great second option.

Maryanne and Tommy were amazing during their session.  You can’t tell in the photographs, but there was a heat advisory on the day of their session.  It was hot!!  Despite this, these two we phenomenal and posed like champs!

For their second location, Maryanne wanted something red and rustic like old bricks.  When I showed her a picture of some old train tracks she immediately chose the Low Line near Dock Street.  I had never photographed near the Low Line before so I was excited to give this location a try.  The light was stunning and the sun set at a perfect angle!  Again, Maryanne and Tommy rocked their Richmond Virginia Engagement Session all the way through!  So many amazing images and I can’t wait to photograph them again in just a few weeks!!

Enjoy our favorites!

As wedding photographers, we are often told by clients that they are awkward and nervous in front of a camera and that they just want to look and feel natural!  We all can relate to that!  I too feel awkward during family photos.  However, I've learned that by having a strong ability to pose and to notice the small details, we can make every look great and feel like their natural selves!
