Lincoln Memorial Engagement Session | Cortney & Marques

This beautiful fall Lincoln Memorial Engagement Session is finally gracing our blog!  Marques and Cortney agreed to a sunrise time slot so that we can avoid the crowd but there were still a small crowd of people gathered to watch the beautiful sunrise.  No matter though, we go through this cold session with lots of laughs and a light hearted good time.

How They Met

Marques and Cortney met through a mutual friend.  He asked her to “put him on” (you guys know what that means!), so Cortney told her that she could give him her number.  They started texting and realized that he was stationed in Germany and was getting ready to deploy.  They didn’t actually meet in person until a year and a half later.

Memorable Moments

Sometimes, the most memorable moments in a relationship are the simply one, silly ones, quiet ones, or crazy ones that only the two of you share.  When I asked Cortney about a memorable moment in their relationship together, she told me this:

“This is something that I’ll always remember — it’s nothing major but I will never forget it. One day, Marques and I were so bored so we hopped in the car and started driving around D.C. After like an hour of “getting lost” in the city on purpose, we decided we were going to find President Obama’s house (his current house, not the white house). We spent like 3 hours driving around, comparing houses to google images of the house. We eventually found the house and were SO excited. It is so funny because we both got so invested in finding the Obama’s house and promised each other that we would not go home until we were successful.”

I can honestly envision them driving in the car together are really having a great time looking for the Obama’s house!  I LOVE IT!!

The City is Where the Heart Is

Cortney and Marques love DC.  It really is a city that holds a special place in their hearts.  The Lincoln Memorial was a must for their pictures so, even though half of the monument was closed to construction, we made it work for them!

I’m so excited to share a few of my favorites on the blog and we can’t wait for their wedding next November at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center!

updated post coming SOON!

As wedding photographers, we are often told by clients that they are awkward and nervous in front of a camera and that they just want to look and feel natural!  We all can relate to that!  I too feel awkward during family photos.  However, I've learned that by having a strong ability to pose and to notice the small details, we can make every look great and feel like their natural selves!
