Washington DC Engagement Session
Okay….I’ll let you in on a little secret. Until recently, I used to despise the busy city. Even driving to Norfolk was a headache for me! Busy urban areas always made me feel overwhelmed and I never favored shooting in that kind of environment. But that all began to change for me recently. Particularly over the summer. I don’t know what made me change my perspective but I found myself wanting more of a big city change. I drive there so often that I know Norfolk like the back on my hand and it kind of grew on me!
So, when Sara mentioned to me that she and Eric wanted their engagement session to take place in Washington DC, I didn’t hesitate. Eric grew up in DC and Sara has lived their for a few years now. To make sure I was prepared, we decided to meet up a week before the session and do a quick walk through of all of locations they had in mind! I ended up narrowing it down to the best three!
On the day of their session, the weather was perfect! We decided to start the session at sunset so that we could take advantage of the empty parks! We began at the Georgetown Waterfront Park, a place where Eric and Sara often spend time together. Afterwards we headed to the Taft bridge, then finished up at the Jefferson Memorial!
I often tell couples that during the first few minutes of your session, you may feel awkward….but you couldn’t tell with these two! Michael and I loved getting to know Sara and Eric better! We realized that when it comes to football, Michael and I aren’t the only ones with a house divided. Eric graduated from the University of Virginia and Sara graduated from Virginia Tech. If you are familiar with college football rivalries, then you understand!!
Despite their differences in football teams, Sara and Eric love each other to the core and we are so honored to be able to capture images in places throughout DC that means a lot to their relationship! We look forward to their wedding next year at the Historic Post Office!
Enjoy our favorites!
