A Yorktown Freight Shed Wedding

Bethany and Derrick’s wedding day was spent all around the beautiful area of Historic Yorktown.  Bethany and her bridesmaids did their preparations in a gorgeous home that sits right across the street from the Yorktown Victory Monument.

For their first look, they choose the Nelson House as their backdrop and it was simply stunning!  Everything in Yorktown is beautiful, but when you couple it with a gorgeous wedding…I am ALL heart eyes!!

When the time came to begin the ceremony, guest were entertained with an elegant harp and violin duet.  As Bethany walked down the aisle, her sister played an amazing flute solo!

Everyone in this wedding has amazing musical talents because even Bethany and Derrick played a together hymn on the violin and guitar while the wedding guest sang!  This was are first time witnessing something like this and it really brought tears to my eyes!

The ceremony was so charming and wonderful and the reception was incredibly fun!  There were lots of surprises during their reception that I will reveal in the photos below!

SURPRISE #1: Bethany’s little cousin turned two on the day of their wedding so to celebrate her little milestone, Bethany and Derrick presented her with her own birthday cupcake!

SURPRISE #2 One of Derrick’s degrees is in Spanish and he really wanted to incorporate that into the wedding but it didn’t quite work out! So….Bethany surprised him with a wedding cake pinata!  Wait until you see what was inside!…

Let’s talk about this shoe game!  Most fun game ever!  In the shoe game, the bride and groom each hold one another’s shoe.  Someone asks a question like “Who is more of a dog person?” or “Who is the better cook?”.  Once the question is asked, they raise their partner’s shoe if it describes their tendencies or their own shoe if it represents theirs.
